Balayage Near Epsom
Hand-painted colour for soft, natural brightness and a lived-in grow-out that doesn't leave a hard line.
Esther Alexander is based in Ewell, just outside Epsom, and welcomes balayage clients from across the surrounding Surrey area.
Honest guidance, before you book.
Our priority is helping you make the right decision for your hair. We'd rather have the conversation now than sell you a service that isn't right for you.
Ideal for
- You want soft brightness rather than heavy stripes
- You'd like lower-maintenance colour that grows out gently
- You want face-framing dimension around your face and lengths
- You want colour that's planned around your hair, not painted to a template
Not suited to
- You want a dramatic full-head lift in a single session
- Your hair is heavily box-dyed and can't safely take lightener
- You're after a flat, single-tone colour
Expected outcome
- Bright, blended colour that's easy to wear day to day
- A soft grow-out with far less obvious regrowth
- Dimension that catches the light, rather than harsh contrast
Why book with Esther Alexander.
Consultation-led
Every balayage appointment starts with a proper conversation about your hair, your tone and how you wear it.
Colour with care
We use Keune throughout and take a patient, hair-first approach to lightening.
Face-framing placement
Colour is planned around your face and how you style your hair, not painted to a template.
Planned for the long term
We plan the first appointment with the second in mind, so your colour grows out well and needs less upkeep.
Complete, considered colour planning
Your balayage is planned as a complete look, including any toner and finishing services recommended to achieve your intended result. These are priced separately and confirmed before your appointment.
Aftercare guidance
You'll go home with clear product advice to protect tone, condition and shine between visits.

Still weighing it up?
Never had balayage before?
We'll walk you through everything at your consultation. No question is a silly one.
Unsure whether balayage is right for you?
We'll recommend the option that suits your hair, not simply the service you asked for.
Worried about damage?
Protecting the health of your hair is always part of our recommendation.
Concerned about maintenance?
We'll be upfront about how often you'll need appointments, so there are no surprises.
Good to know.
How long does a balayage appointment take?
Typically 3 to 4 hours, depending on your hair length, density and the placement plan. Any toner or finishing service is booked alongside it and charged separately.
How often will I need to come back?
Because balayage grows out softly, most clients refresh every 4 to 6 months, with a lighter toner appointment in between if they want to.
How much does balayage cost?
Our balayage / ombre colour service is £140 with Sophia and £170 with Faith. That's the colour service only — cutting, finishing and toner are booked and charged separately.
What's the difference between balayage and highlights?
Highlights are painted in foils in defined sections. Balayage is hand-painted freehand for a softer blend and a more natural grow-out. We'll help you choose at your consultation.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
For new balayage clients, or if you have existing colour, yes. It lets us complete a skin test and plan the appointment properly.
What aftercare do I need?
Colour-safe shampoo and conditioner, a heat protectant, and a periodic toner refresh. You'll get advice tailored to your hair on the day.
A simple, reassuring next step.
